Recent Work

This new work approaches thresholds as sites of tension between presence and absence, interior and exterior, concealment and revelation. These are generative zones where perception shifts and meaning remains in flux, inviting viewers to inhabit moments of ambiguity.

Within this enquiry both drapery and architectural space function as parallel devices: as folds, veils, and corners. Each operates as a physical and psychological threshold, mediating what is seen, hidden, contained, or released. Through these spatial and material interventions, the work explores how surfaces and structures divide and connect, holding space for transition and transformation.

Thresholds

The often-overlooked details of the everyday built environment form the foundation of this work. Guided by Georges Perec’s concept of the infra-ordinary, the paintings attend to the peripheral, bringing attention to what is usually unnoticed. In this way, painting becomes an ethical act—an invitation to reconsider how we engage with the everyday world.

Developed through a process of adjustment and response, the works embrace uncertainty and discovery. Focusing on architectural fragments, they translate lived encounters with light, shadow, and surface into material form.

Drapery

These paintings draw on the evocative, deeply personal nature of fabric and its ability to suggest living presence. The works explore connections between past and present through objects that hold intimate meaning while resonating with collective familiarity.

"I began looking at fabric as an expression of the most basic elements of what it means to be human, as a symbol of life and universal humanity. Thinking about the way fabrics conceal and reveal became an emotional journey of remembering, and I became increasingly fascinated by the idea of what was forgotten or lost, and how these fabrics might help us connect with the past.”
